By: Hospice at Home “All of the proceeds go to providing services for grieving children and their families throughout Southwest Michigan and Northern Indiana,” states Lisa Bartoszek, Director of Lory’s Place. “At the end of the 2010 calendar year, 282 children and 419 adults participated in groups at Lory’s Place. Because transportation, finances and schedules can make it difficult for a child to go to Lory’s Place, school outreach programs are available to children in their schools during their school day. In partnership with local school districts, an additional 777 students were served by Lory’s Place at their schools. An additional 1,779 people were served through walk-in visits, phone, email, outreach education, and crisis response. All services are provided at no charge,” continues Bartoszek. Lory's Place is a bereavement service of Hospice at Home and was created to help children and their families work through their grief so they can become capable, healthy, and optimistic about the future. The services are free to all who need them. Lory's Place is fully funded by the generous donations and gifts of our community through events such as the Lory’s Place Reflections Dinner and Auction. The community is invited to participate in this event by donating new goods or services for the auction, becoming an event sponsor or making a cash donation. The winning tickets will be drawn during the August 19th event and people do not need to be present to win. Please visit the Lory’s Place website at www.lorysplace.org for more information.
