WIFF Around the World “We’re excited to partner with FIU and Samuel Goldwyn Films to present this riveting film along with a lineup of great panelists,” said Yvonne McCormack-Lyons, President and founder of the Women’s International Film & Arts Festival (WIFF). “Part of our mission through our newly established Women’s Alliance For Film, Media and Communications is to address issues that affect woman on a global basis, and this film certainly does that. This event is our 2nd discussion addressing Human Trafficking, and our fabulous line-up of panelists will enable us to explore how this film impacts us here in South Florida and what we can do to help,” she added. Panelists include: Assistant United States Attorney, Chief of Special Prosecutions, and Human Trafficking Coordinator, Barbara A. Martinez; Special Agent with U.S. Homeland Security Investigations, Caroline Stein; Adriane Reesey, of the Broward Sheriff’s Office and Chair of the Broward Human Trafficking Coalition; and Associate Professor of Physics, Yesim Darici from the F.I.U Woman Studies Program. The August 3rd event includes networking reception before and after the screening, with Hors d'oeuvres and those interested can log on to http://www.womensfilmfest.com to rsvp. In only its 2nd year, WIFF was awarded Best Film Festival in Miami by the Miami New Times Newspaper. WIFF’s Women’s Alliance is a quarterly program exploring social justice issues unique to women.
