Davey and Goliath: Snowboard Christmas Special Celebrates Diversity

Sept. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- (Rock Rapids, IA) – The 2004 holiday special Davey and Goliath: Snowboard Christmas is now available from Bridgestone Multimedia Group™.

After Davey and his talking dog, Goliath, embark on an exciting snowboarding adventure, Davey meets two new friends, Sam, who is Muslim, and Yasmeen, who is Jewish. Sharing a strong sense of faith but very different beliefs, the three learn to understand and respect each other’s ethnic backgrounds and religious traditions. Together, they enter a snowboarding contest for the Children’s Christmas Benefit Fund, but Davey puts them all in danger with an unwise decision that even Goliath may not be able to reverse.

This expanded episode teaches children the importance of diversity and how different cultural groups celebrate the holiday season. Set in a Christian context, Davey and Goliath: Snowboard Christmas also discusses Ramadan and Hanukkah as events that Sam and Yasmeen celebrate in place of Christmas.

Digitally remastered for the show’s 50th anniversary DVD release, this DVD features Art Clokey’s signature stop-motion animation and several favorite characters like Davey’s parents, his sister, Sally, his best friends, Jonathan and Cisco, as well as a few new characters, including Ranger Ava and a group of animal pals for Goliath.
