The Bartender

This was another Coal Region job with a great future.  So great, in fact that in the Coal Region some people actually opened bars in their homes.  Something like this:
The wife comes home from her shift at the shirt factory and the old man is shoving the living room furniture into the kitchen.
“Aldo, what are you doing?”
“Movin’ the furniture.”
“I can see that, you idiot.  But why are you doing that?”
“There was a layoff at the mines.”
“And?”
“And so I’m thinking we’ll open a bar.”
“So why are you moving the living room furniture?”
“To make room for the bar.”
“Here?”
“Sure.  Why not?”
“But this is our house.”
“Not anymore.  This here is Aldo’s Place.  I even got a sign painted up.”
So the family moves into the upstairs, and the downstairs becomes Aldo’s Place.
It happened a lot.
