Veracity HIGHWIRE POWERSTAR™ enters the market to provide safe PoE over Coax™ up to 25 Watts

Sept. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- Veracity has announced that it has commenced shipping of its new HIGHWIRE POWERSTAR™ Ethernet and PoE over Coax™ device.  The new HIGHWIRE POWERSTAR™ builds on Veracity’s successful range of HIGHWIRE devices, which are relied upon in thousands of video surveillance installations to deliver Ethernet and Power over Ethernet (PoE) through re-using existing coax cable – saving valuable time and cost.

Veracity recognised the need to provide higher power output for IP camera installations over longer coax cable lengths.  Veracity’s new HIGHWIRE POWERSTAR™ base unit delivers up to Class 4 PoE, providing up to 25 watts of power designed to serve even the most power hungry external cameras. The POWERSTAR effectively quadruples the power output of the existing Veracity HIGHWIRE PLUS and can deliver data and Power over Ethernet (PoE) over Coax to distances from 300m to 500m depending on the quality on the coaxial cabling used.   Connecting POWERSTAR™ units back-to-back can allow the network signal to be repeated without local power, extending Ethernet provision to up to 4 kilometres (2.5 miles).

Veracity has ensured that the additional functionality of HIGHWIRE POWERSTAR™ is simple to install and configure, and it has worked with installers to ensure HIGHWIRE POWERSTAR™, like every Veracity product, works straight ‘out-of-the-box’. The device features Veracity’s unique SafeView™ display which shows network activity, PoE status and power levels across the link right up to the camera, taking the guesswork out of powering and installing IP cameras.

HIGHWIRE POWERSTAR™ also extends the possibility of delivering network provision without the need for additional power to any coax cable network, such as for upgrading CATV (community antenna TV) or communal satellite systems in flats or hotels.
