Follow on Google News | Savannah Walk to End Alzheimer’s Steps off Saturday October 15thThe Savannah Walk to End Alzheimer’s will happen on Saturday, October 15, and Historic Johnson Square will Fill with Purple.
This year’s Walk experience promises to be better than ever, as each registered participant will receive a Promise Flower, making a commitment to fulfill their promise to remember, to honor, to care and to fight Alzheimer’s disease by participating in the Walk’s new hands-on and mission-focused element, the Promise Garden. Through color, these Promise Flowers represent the diverse reasons participants have gathered and each walker will personally write a hand-written message on their flower to further strengthen their dedication. Participants will come together for a heart-felt ceremony prior to walking. Together, the Promise Flowers create a dynamic, colorful and meaningful garden. Participants are then welcome to stroll through the garden post-Walk, read each other’s stories and take their Promise Flower home as remembrance of their Walk experience and their loved ones. Ongoing children’s activities will include family safety thumb prints, bead bracelets, picture frames, and face painting. An interactive way for children to be made aware of the disease will be through arts and crafts they can make and keep. Registration for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s begins at 9:00 am in Johnson Square, and the walk around Forsyth Park will begin following opening ceremonies at 10:00 am.
