Oct. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- NEW YORK --- The New York League of Conservation Voters, which works to make environmental sustainability a top political and policy priority in New York State, has announced its endorsement of Rob Calarco for election to the Suffolk County Legislature in District 7.

Rob Calarco served as Chief of Staff to Legislator Jack Eddington from 2007-2011, as well as Chief of Staff and Legislative Aide to Legislator Ginny Fields. Calarco assisted in initiating studies to eliminate invasive vegetation in Canaan Lake in North Patchogue as well as Upper and Lower Lakes in Yaphank. He also understands that a healthy environment and a strong economy go hand in hand, by supporting smart investments in habitat protection, downtown redevelopment and sustainable economic growth.

“More than ever, Suffolk County needs leaders who understand that environmental sustainability isn’t a luxury – it is the way forward to a healthier, stronger innovation economy,” said Marcia Bystryn, president of the New York League of Conservation Voters. “Rob Calarco has a unique combination of experience, passion and a plan for a more pro-active County Legislature, and that’s why the New York League of Conservation Voters is proud to endorse Rob Calarco.”

In response to the endorsement, Rob Calarco said: "I believe environmental sustainability—everything from green buildings and open space protection to smart growth—leads to economic viability. And right now that is what we need: revitalized downtowns, good middle-class jobs, and strong, attractive communities. I am committed to advocating policies in Suffolk County that work to meet this goal.”
