Follow on Google News | Ockenden Manor Celebrated as one of the Top 100 UK Restaurants at National Restaurants Award17 October 2011: Michelin-starred Ockenden Manor in Cuckfield, West Sussex has been named one of the top 100 restaurants in the UK by The National Restaurant Awards.
By: Mango PR The Restaurant at Ockenden Manor, led by head chef Stephen Crane, is one of only two restaurants in Sussex to hold a Michelin star. It offers a superb fine dining experience in an elegant room overlooking the gardens with sweeping views of the South Downs beyond. The expertly devised menu incorporates the freshest ingredients, sourced locally in Sussex wherever possible. Dishes include Balcombe venison saddle pasty with red cabbage and wild mushrooms; local cod with courgettes, fennel, mussels, bouillabaisse and tapenade gnocchi; and salted peanut crème brulee with banana sorbet and caramel milk chocolate. Guests have a choice of fixed price menus, including the Tasting Menu and a Sunday Lunch Menu. The National Restaurant Awards’ list of the top 100 restaurants in the UK is compiled and voted for by the National Restaurant Awards Academy, which is made up of prominent gastronomic experts. The judging panel includes chefs, restaurateurs and food critics and is divided across the 12 regions of the UK.
