Applied Colors releases guide to assembling auto detailing trailer.

A car detailing trailer can be asssembled for $2000 or less if you buy the right USED equipment.

Nov. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- New detailers often invest so much into assembling a detailing trailer that they don't have enough money for supplies, gas, and advertising.  The solution is to assemble a trailer built with durable, but inexpensive pre-owned equipment.

The first item is the trailer itself.  It's a big mistake to buy a trailer larger than necessary.  5 feet wide by 7 or 8 feet wide is ideal:  large enough for the equipment, but light enough to keep gas costs in control.

Air compressors are widely available for half or less than new on Craigslist.  Hundreds to be saved.  Be certain to choose a "horizontal" not "vertical" design.

Another area of waste:  investing in large water tanks and generators.  98% of customers supply electricity.  The cost of mounting a water tank and towing hundreds of pounds of water does not offset the income in serving those 2% of clients (unless the operator can secure large "commercial jobs").  Customers expect to provide electricity, and there's little benefit to buying a generator.

Finally, in-trailer shelving is not worth the time and investment.  Simple plastic bins will move rags, polishers, waxes, brushes, and more directly next to the car being worked on.
