Dec. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- Almost three-quarters of firms and public sector organisations across nine European countries may not fully recover their computer systems or data after an IT failure, a survey suggests.

The report by IT group EMC said 74% were "not very confident" they could fully restore their networks. It also found that 54% admitted they had lost data or suffered systems downtime in the past 12 months.

A total 1,750 IT bosses in countries including the UK were questioned.

All of which proves that an IT strategy that utilises cloud based services can be justified on disaster recovery grounds alone. The cost savings of reduced admin and management are then just icing on the cake.

“We have had instances in recent times where our customers have recovered from catastrophic loss (theft, failure etc) within a matter of hours - their data is never at risk”. Commented Nick John, MD of FCP Internet who supplies evolve™ the recruitment front office solution, delivered on-demand via SaaS into the recruitment sector.

“We have seen a steadily increasing level of migration of on premise installations to SaaS and the survey results above form a key part of the argument to justify that” he added.
