Follow on Google News | CEE Announces Launch of National Lab Skills Initiative (NLSI) ClearinghouseThe NLSI Clearinghouse is an online Clearinghouse of Science Resources within targeted states. Laboratory-based programming at the state, national and virtual level will be highlighted in the online Clearinghouse.
By: Maureen Palmer NLSI has designed the clearinghouse to assist teachers and is content rich. It contains a wide variety of resources including curriculum, databases, mentoring, professional development, research, videos and virtual sites. The National Lab Skills Initiative was inaugurated in Virginia in 2011. The mission of NLSI is to assure a future talented and diverse U.S. workforce in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). “Science teachers are 3 mouse clicks away from accessing robust content that helps them enrich the learning experience of their students, supporting them inside and outside the classroom with scientific experiences, ” said Charles Farmer, National Lab Skills Initiative Manager. “The Center for Excellence in Education continues its 28 year history of nurturing high school students to careers in science and technology.” The Center for Excellence in Education was founded in 1983 by the late Admiral H.G. Rickover and Joann P. DiGennaro, President of the Center. The Center's mission is to nurture high school and university scholars to careers of excellence and leadership in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and to encourage collaboration between and among leaders in the global community. CEE sponsors the Research Science Institute (RSI), the USA Biology Olympiad (USABO), and the National Lab Skills Initiative (NLSI).
