By: Volda Officer Unity Boston invites you to celebrate the much-anticipated New Year's Eve Burning Bowl Ceremony Saturday, December 31 – 7:00 PM The Burning Bowl Ceremony is a time to relinquish anything that burdens your mind and, at the same time, identify those things in your life that you wish to occur in the coming year. It is also a time to forgive yourself and others in exchange for inner peace. The ceremony will provide an ideal time to let go things that no longer work in your life. We will encourage you to write on (special) paper, things, ideas and situations that you no longer wish to have power in your life-things you wish to release in the coming year. Then, you will be invited to symbolically cast your list to the eternal flame in the "burning bowl" and begin anew. The second part of the service allows us to ask God for whatever we wish to bring into our lives, to create a clean, fresh start of our hopes and desires in the New Year. The event is one of our most meaningful "spiritual tune-ups" each year and you do not want to miss it. In the old mystery schools, students were encouraged to burn away all selfish personality defects and disappointments from the past by writing down those feelings of frustration and lack of fulfillment then casting them into a large fire. This practice is still carried on today at many Unity churches. On New Year's Eve come and release those things you want to leave behind before you enter the star-gate called 2012. As the 2011 completes its cycle and 2012 is born, we may let go of false beliefs and illusions that do not serve our highest purpose, and open the way for new, fresh insights and inspiration. Through the purification process, symbolized by fire, you can release unwanted and limiting patterns such as fear, guilt and un-forgiveness, thereby creating space for new blessings. We welcome you to start this New Year with this freeing and moving experience in consciousness that opens the door to a greater you! During the service you will write a letter describing what you are ready to release in your life. Then you will write another letter describing what you choose to experience in 2012. We will burn the letter of release. The other letter will be mailed back to you at the end of 2012. Let us take this special time to release all that we do not wish to carry into the New Year. After a service of inspiration, music and prayer, the Burning Bowl experience will be shared. Those who did not write a Letter to God at Thanksgiving will have an opportunity to do so. Send Unwanted Memories and Experiences up in Smoke. Write down the year's unwanted memories or experiences on a piece of flash paper and then literally -and symbolically- The "unity candle," a large candle that symbolically represents the Holy Spirit. The ashes are placed in a bowl that represents the all-embracing God. "It's a representation of letting it (unwanted experiences) Please join us for this powerful service and bring your friends. # # # Unity of Boston is a growing and joyous spiritual community.
