Piano Music Meets Tao te Ching in New YouTube Video

Feb. 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Quotes from the infamous 'Tao te Ching' have been inspiring people for centuries. And Lao Tsu, the eastern sage and philosopher who authored this book was especially noted for how he used nature as an analogy for how to live.

And now, pianist and composer Edward Weiss wants to help spread that message doing what he does best, and that's play and teach a style of piano playing known as 'New Age.'

Weiss explains...

"I've had a copy of the 'Tao te Ching' in my bookshelf for years. Then the idea came - why not combine some New Age piano music with a nature scene, some nature sounds, and a quote from this amazing book. It didn't take long after that to create a short yet simple video that lets viewers relax a while and obtain some peace."

Weiss, who also teaches people how to play New Age piano online, has been playing in this eclectic style for over 15 years. The course he runs now has over 145 lessons and 1100 subscribers. Students learn how to improvise and compose their own unique music.

When asked why he teaches New Age piano, Weiss responds:

"The New Age style of piano playing is perfect for adults who have always wanted to create their own music. I teach it because I love it myself. It's really the only genre out there where a total beginner can sit down and play something that sounds like music right away instead of waiting years to play something that's already been created. I teach New Age piano because it's given me so much pleasure over the years. I just want to pass some of that on."
