Feb. 7, 2012 - PRLog -- New York— Ruth Rogers Clausen, author of the best-selling book, 50 Beautiful Deer-Resistant Plants: The Prettiest Annuals, Perennials, Bulbs, and Shrubs that Deer Don't Eat, will be the featured guest on The Organic View Radio Show (www.theorganicview.com) with host, June Stoyer, on February 7th, at 4p.m. Eastern. Many home owners residing in rural areas are often struggling to keep their well manicured landscape from being devoured by deer. Some folks have opted to install high fencing that confines their yard, creating an atmosphere similar to that of a zoo than a backyard. Others have gone to extremes using chemicals that can do more harm than good. Is it possible to co-exist with deer and have a beautiful garden? Ruth Rogers Clausen thinks so.  As a well respected expert, author, teacher and overall lover of nature, she has written a book that is essential for anyone trying to cope with deer.  In her best-selling book, 50 Beautiful Deer-Resistant Plants: The Prettiest Annuals, Perennials, Bulbs, and Shrubs that Deer Don't Eat, expert advice is offered to teach homeowners how to have a successful garden in deer country.

In Perennials for American Gardens, Clausen received the 1990 Quill and Trowel Award from the Garden Writers Association. She has also written for the American Garden guide series: Perennial Gardening with the New York Botanical Garden, Annual Gardening with the Missouri Botanical Garden, and Trees with the Chicago Botanic Garden. Former horticulture editor for Country Living Gardener magazine, she has also contributed to Country Gardens, Horticulture and Organic Gardening.

Trained in horticulture at Studley College in England, she received her M.S. in botany from Kent State University. Ruth serves on the advisory committee for the School of Professional Horticulture, at the NY Botanical Garden and is a member of the advisory council for the Association of Professional Landscape Designers.
