March 1, 2012 - PRLog -- In recent years Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) has been re-formulated into a low rise two component polyurethane foam roofing adhesive designed to adhere EPDM membranes or board stock insulation to various roofing substrates.
Polyurethane Spray Foam Insulation can reduce or cut heating and cooling costs by as much as 40% by reducing air infiltration into residential and commercial buildings. Polyurethane Spray Foam Insulation is a high “R” value insulation created on site and using specially designed equipment that mixes chemicals and sprays it on the surface of the wall cavity, attic or crawl space. This liquid rapidly expands, turning into foam insulation, due to a chemical reaction. As the Polyurethane Spray Foam Insulation expands, it fills in gaps and holes, and conforms to the wall cavity creating an airtight seal.
The foam adhesive that is spray applied significantly reduces application time and labor required for installation. The foam provides an added degree of insulation to the roof system and forms a strong adhesive bond, earning it excellent wind uplift ratings.
Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) adhesives are used in many construction activities from roofing to manufactured home building to hurricane damage mitigation. SPF is ideal for K-Span buildings.
Sprayed polyurethane foam is also used for keeping hot tubs and spas warm. The spa shell is typically formed by an acrylic, or other rigid elastomer. SPF is then sprayed onto the backside for two reasons. The first is its superior insulating properties. The second is its structural ability to keep the tub from flexing and bending.
