Ferndale – The Sullivan County Visitors Association will be participating in the New York State Travel & Vacation Association’s Annual Empire State Tourism Conference and Tourism Action Day scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, March 6 & 7.  The events are being held in Albany, New York.

The Empire State Tourism Conference will feature the keynote address on The Power of Destination Marketing with examples that provide dramatic and convincing evidence that destination marketing is a wise investment for taxpayers, even in difficult economic times.  Promoting tourism does not compete with entitlement programs, but rather it helps pay for them, putting cash into public coffers, creating jobs and enhancing the lifestyle of both tourists and residents.

Each year the Tourism Action Day offers the Travel Industry the opportunity to communicate to their Legislator about how Tourism and our organization help drive business to the Region.

Tourism is the 5th largest employer in New York State and sustains nearly 674,000 jobs.  Tourism not only creates jobs, but it generates billions of dollars in State and Local taxes for the state’s growing economy.
SCVA, along with some of its members, will be joining hundreds of industry professionals on March 6th at Tourism Action Day and help deliver the message to Legislators that Tourism is an essential investment for New York State’s success.
