Dr. Krupke Discusses Research On Bees And Neonicotinoids With Host, June Stoyer On The Organic View

March 2, 2012 - PRLog -- New York— Dr. Christian Krupke, will be the featured guest to discuss his research on bees and neonicotinoids on The Organic View Radio Show (www.theorganicview.com) with host, June Stoyer, on March 2, 2012 at 4p.m. Eastern. Following reports of bee deaths near Indiana corn fields at planting time, sampling of dead bees and several potential exposure sources revealed neonicotinoid insecticides used to treat corn and soybean seed were often present, sometimes in very high concentrations. Dr. Krupke was the lead researcher in the recently published Purdue Study. This research was the ground breaking research, shows an astounding connection between neonicotinoid exposure and bee losses.

Dr. Christian Krupke is an Assistant Professor of Entomology at Purdue University, with a primary responsibility in field crops extension. Dr. Krupke received his B.S. from the University of Guelph, his M.S from Simon Fraser University and his Ph.D. from Washington State University in 2004. His research program at Purdue focuses on the management of key pests of field crops, primarily corn and soybeans. His main area of focus is quantifying the effects of widespread implementation of Bt strategies for the corn rootworm complex, with particular interest in evaluating and improving resistance management strategies. He also conducts research and extension programs on several other key pests of field crops, including the western bean cutworm and the soybean aphid.
