Portwell Expands Its Family of Mini-ITX Embedded Systems with Intel Core i7/i5/i3 CPUs and AMT 6.0

March 20, 2012 - PRLog -- FREMONT, CALIF. —March 20, 2012 —Users of the latest Microsoft® Windows® 7 operating system will be pleased to hear that American Portwell Technology, Inc., (http://www.portwell.com) has released WEBS-3560B, a new embedded fan-less system with Mobile Intel® QM57 Express chipset, DDR3, AMT 6.0 and an Intel® Core™ i7/i5/i3-based Mini-ITX board. According to American Portwell, WEBS-3560B provides higher mobile computing performance and full HD 1080P graphics capabilities to help users who are not satisfied with the solutions that the previous Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad can provide.

In addition to its core Intel components, WEBS-3560B includes: dual-channel DDR3 SO-DIMM support up to 8GB; dual-display by VGA/DVI/HDMI; 1 x Mini PCI-E; 6 x USB 2.0; dual GbE based on PCI-E x1 high bandwidth I/O interface; Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) 6.0; Intel Hyper-Threading Technology; and support for a wide input range of 12V to 36V DC.

American Portwell’s WEBS-3560B system is available now for applications such as point-of-sale (POS), lottery, medical, gaming, high-resolution digital signage, surveillance security monitoring and kiosk.

Control and secure remote assets
“A key feature of WEBS-3560B is the fan-less solution based on Intel’s Core i7/i5/i3 processor,” says Robert Feng, American Portwell Technology’s product marketing manager. “Fan-less operation not only prevents unnecessary noise, but also avoids catastrophic fan failure while improving product reliability.”  Feng points out that customers using the new WEBS-3560B will also benefit from the combination of the Intel Core i7/i5/i3 multi-core processor with Hyper-Threading Technology because it provides high performance computing power, while AMT 6.0 hardware-based security management technology allows their IT department to remotely manage and secure networked computers out-of-band as well control over system assets and an improved ability to discover, diagnose, heal, update and protect these valuable assets. Remote network security management
According to Frank Shen, American Portwell Technology’s vice president of product marketing, the new WEBS-3560B will appeal to systems integrators because the on-board AMT 6.0 provides hardware-based remote network security management, which means SIs can install software and manage the system after it has been deployed. “It also benefits project management,” Shen explains, “because it makes maintenance schedules easier to arrange and reduces IT costs. Plus,” he adds, “the fan-less design means the WEBS-3560B can be installed in remote areas that are not easy to reach without worrying about replacing the unit due to fan failure.
