Jonathon Gomez Set for Madera Clash Saturday Night

April 19, 2012 - PRLog -- Jonathon Gomez, driver of the #22 Century Boatland Chevrolet in the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour will be back in action this Saturday night at the newly repaved Madera (CA) Speedway.

Gomez is the 2010 SRL champion and is looking to return to his winning ways in 2012. In round one of the series earlier this month, Gomez finished 11th at Stockton after having to work his way through the field after starting in the 22nd position. Since then, the crew lead by Ron Copeland have found and corrected a few issues with the car.

"I know we are going to be a lot better at Madera," Gomez stated. "We have some chassis issues with the car but we fixed them and are really looking forward to the new pavement at Madera. It is such a fun track to drive and with a new surface you can bet it is going to be a fast and action packed event."

Gomez is hoping the third time is the charm at Madera as he has finishes of 3rd place and 2nd place in two previous starts at the .333-mile banked paved oval. Gomez has 17 career starts in the SRL and has scored three wins, one pole award with 12 top five finishes and 13 finishes in the top 10.
