Doss Dominates Season to Claim AABLMS Title

Oct. 29, 2012 - PRLog -- Jeremy Doss entered the weekend at Shasta Speedway having already claimed the Airport Auto Brokers Late Model Series title after a dominating win last weekend in Eureka, CA.  What was at stake was a new series record for victories if he could win for the first time at the 3/8-mile paved oval.

The two-day special featured practice and qualifying heats on Saturday and a 100-lap feature on Sunday afternoon where Doss started third on the grid. The warm fall weather was nearly perfect but Doss fought a tight handling car the entire event. The mark of a champion is when things are not perfect you make adjustments.

Doss chose to conserve his tires for later in the race and stuck to the low groove staying out of trouble and choosing his passing points when they became available.

The strategy worked well and Doss found himself at the front of the field by lap 11 of the race and held off all challengers the rest of the way to claim his eighth win of the season breaking the record for number of wins held by his father (Mike Doss).

"It feels great to win the championship and to get my first win here at Shasta," Doss offered. "My crew chief Dale (Dodds) has done an awesome job all season and he definitely kept me calm today. This championship was not easy but when you have the quality of cars and setups that I have had it makes a whole lot easier."

On the season, Doss delivered a truly dominating performance in claiming his first Late Model title. Eight wins and ten top five finishes in eleven races. His only blemish, if you can call it one, was an 11th place finish at Shasta back in September when he had a trailing arm break while leading the event.

"It has just been a great season," Doss said. "As much as we raced all over the place plus focusing on the AABLMS championship, it has just been a lot of fun. I want keep racing every weekend."

Doss also scored victories this season in the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series (2), Late Models (3), and Legend cars (2).

Plans call for him to move up to the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour next season along with competing in select RMCS, AABLMS, and various special events that will feature a schedule of more than thirty races throughout 2013.
