By: DerrickShannon.Com Miinch, the 2011 ASA Truck Series champion and defending race winner at Firebird, is anxious to get his 2012 campaign underway and will be piloting the the #12 Upfront Motorsports Chevrolet this weekend. "I am excited to return to Firebird this weekend and defend our race win from last year," Miinch said. "I really enjoy racing in the ASA Speed Truck Series and racing these trucks on the road course is a lot of fun." Miinch is a very accomplished go-kart racer and accustomed to competing on challenging road course circuits. The five-time IKF Grand National Champion hopes to follow several other racers who have successfully made the transition from karting to open-wheel and stock cars. The 1.1-mile 11-turn course at Firebird will demand a lot from the drivers but Miinch is prepared. "The action when driving in the truck series is slowed down compared to karting," Miinch offered. "You have a lot more time to think and react. I hope we make all the right moves and are victorious again this weekend." Miinch plans to compete in the remainder of the ASA Truck schedule as well as make select starts in SRL Southwest Tour and NASCAR K&N Pro Series.
