Cat Owners Challenge Ugly Cat Contest: Authors Change Course

May 3, 2012 - PRLog -- CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – Cat owners overwhelmingly responded to an “Ugly Cat Contest” issued by two authors seeking inspiration for their next book by saying: “there are no ugly cats.” After listening to replies from their initial “Ugly Cat Contest” launched in mid-April, authors Damon Plumides and Arthur Mark Boerke have decided to change course. Plumides and Boerke are reconsidering the character they’re building and are now looking for any cat photos to draw inspiration from for their sequel to The Adventures of Caterwaul Cat: Feline Pie.

“Do you know the best part about writing a fiction book? You can make it whatever you want!” says Plumides.  “The book is still in the drafting stage, so we’re responding to our fans and creating ways for them to be involved.”

As of May 3, 2012, the contest changed from the Ugly Cat Contest to the Cat Photo Contest. All cat owners are encouraged to send in interesting photos of their cat if they think their purring pal would make a good character in a book. The participants who have already entered will still be considered.

The book series this contest is based on is filled with mischief and mayhem surrounding Caterwaul the Cat. It is written for the 10- to 14-year-old market but is filled with subtle humor that makes a good read for adults as well. Their next book will continue around the main character, Caterwaul Cat, but will also feature new supporting characters. That is where their “Cat Photo Contest” comes in. The winning cat will receive a part in the new book, which is due to be released in 2013, and a professionally sketched, framed illustration of the winning cat signed by the authors and illustrator. The winning cat will also receive a $50 gift certificate to PetSmart for toys or goodies for the cat, a $50 gift certificate for books from www.shop.boutiqueofqualitybooks.com for the cat’s human, and recognition on all BQB social media.

The second place winner will receive a $25 PetSmart card and a $25 BQB certificate for books from www.shop.boutiqueofqualitybooks.com. The third place winner will receive the choice of either a $25 PetSmart card OR a $25 BQB Gift Certificate for books from BQB Publishing.
