May 30, 2012 - PRLog -- Braeden Havens, returns to the driver's seat this weekend at The Bullring in Las Vegas, NV driving the #61 Thompson Motorsports Chevrolet in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series Star Nursery "200". It will be Havens third start for the team this season as the 18-year old recent high school graduate continues his climb up the racing ladder.

Haven's was last in the Thompson machine at Stockton (CA) Speedway last month notching a 13th place effort and is entering the Vegas event full of optimism.

"The Thompson Motorsports crew and I are clicking," Havens said.  "My crew chief Will and I are on the same page.  My teammate Brett has a driving style that is completely different from mine so it took a few races to get there with my crew chief but I think were moving forward towards running up front consistently."

While the youngster is still learning the series and getting comfortable with the team, Havens believes great things are on the horizon. "I always dig deeper for excellent finishes. The competition level in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series is like nothing I have ever experienced.

You look to stay in the top-5 or 10 and take advantage of the opportunity to go gain positions towards the end of the race. The top seven to ten drivers are all so close it is anybody's race between those cars at the end.  If you stay up front and stay clean  you will have opportunities to have a good finish and that's what we're aiming for this weekend."

Youth and Excitement

*The race was scheduled for just 50 laps around the 2.5-mile road course.
*Thompson had moved up into the top seven by lap ten and was just racing the racetrack when his shifter broke shifting into third gear on lap 30.
*Thompson completed the remainder of the event in third gear finishing two laps down.

Thompson's Post-Race Thoughts:
"Brainerd is an old and rough track but I feel like I am getting better at road racing each time I get behind the wheel. I was really comfortable with the car and was just biding my time when the shifter lever broke off leaving the transmission stuck in third gear. After that, I just road around at a much slower pace for the final twenty laps. I am glad to be home and ready to turn the car over to Braeden (Havens) for Vegas."
