June 1, 2012 - PRLog -- Luis Martinez Jr., driver of the #30 King Taco/Position One Motorsports Chevrolet, returns to The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Saturday night for the Super Late Model event that is part of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series Star Nursery "200" program at the 3/8-mile banked oval.

Last month Martinez scored a third place effort after driving from the tail of the stout field in the 40-lap feature race. This time around Martinez hopes to start a little closer to the front but winning the race is the goal just the same.

Martinez will be driving a chassis named Mcfly. The Mcfly car came to Position One in 2009 and is a Gen X Victory Circle Chassis formerly driven by David Mayhew. Other drivers that have driven Mcfly with success include Makena Bell, (K & N east driver) Sergio Pena, and the Metal Mulisha originator Brian Deegan.

Jace Thomas (Car Chief) and Nacho Bustos (Lead Fabricator) along with RIp Michels have been putting in a lot of extra time in the shop after crew chief Steve Boldroff was been sidelined with a torn achilles tendon suffered in a team basketball game. The injury required surgery and has confined the active team member to a wheelchair.

"Steve (Boldroff) has a bump stop problem on the left side that has slowed him down a bit," Martinez said. "We were so good the last time at The Bullring and the work Steve and the team have done on the car gives us a lot of confidence heading into this weekend."

The team will practice tonight after the sun goes down as running any hot laps during the heat of the day tomorrow will not net the team any advantage. "The fast guys at Vegas never practice during the day," stated Rip Michels, team Director of Competition. "Most of them just unload the car an hour before qualifying. We will set the car up after practice tonight and just use a few laps tomorrow to get Luis loosened up.'

Position One Motorsports goals for 2012 will be to further develop their winning tradition and become the premier West Coast team for developing championship caliber drivers. The team currently has a fleet of three ultra-competitive Late Model cars and two equally competitive Super Late Model entries ready for competition.  A brand new Late Model is the newest addition to the rental program, along with a previous Toyota All-star Showdown winning Super Late Model entry. The team will compete at various west coast tracks in 2012 and their current schedule includes visits to The Bullring in Las Vegas, All American Speedway, Madera Speedway, Stockton 99 and Lake Havasu.

Position One Motorsports has corporate partnerships with King Taco, Lucas Oil, Eibach Springs, Ron's Rear Ends, and Jan's Towing. The team completes in Super Late Model/Late Model races throughout the Southwest region as well as providing a complete Driver Development Program for funded drivers looking to move up in their career.
