Fairies & Folk Tales Come Alive in the Woods of Michigan through Children’s Author’s Imagination

June 4, 2012 - PRLog -- Beyond the Firefly Field, the first of four books in The Last Elfairian series by children’s author R.E. Munzing, introduces young readers to Clayton Curtis who, by the age of fourteen, realized his whole life would be boring. Living in a middle-of-nowhere piece of country would have been boring enough, but it was also the land that time forgot. Due to inherit the family home passed down through many generations, Clayton felt doomed to a life in the stone age. Then, a new subdivision was built a mile from his house, and Clayton and his new friends built a tree house. One night, as they sat in their lofty perch, peering out into nothingness, they saw a faraway glowing light. Curiosity spurred them to find out what it was, but their discovery changed them forever, and they knew that they would either have to be willing to do whatever was necessary to keep the secret or never go there again.

Growing up in Michigan, Munzing spent his childhood roaming the woods and building tree houses, and his teen years were spent reading hundreds of science fiction books, frequently in those same tree houses. His rich imagination, stirred together with the memories of his childhood, create stories that are fodder for young minds. Targeted to children from ten to fourteen, the stories are so richly crafted that adults find themselves drawn into the mysteries as well.
