Griffin, a Cornell University graduate and Master's of Sociology candidate has joined the team at Portland, Oregon-based TransActive Education & Advocacy as manager of their growing Community Education and STAR Training program.
By: TransActive Education & Advocacy As part of their commitment to meeting growing demand for training at the local, national and international level, TransActive is expanding their highly-rated training program, STAR - which is an acronym for "Supporting Trans Awareness and Respect". Part of this expansion includes the addition of K.E. Griffin (who goes by the name 'Griffin') to their existing management team. Griffin is, at present, in the final stages of completing their Master's of Science in Sociology degree from Portland State University. They obtained their undergraduate degree from Cornell University with a Bachelor's of Science and Development Sociology and a minor in Feminist, Gender and Sexuality Studies. Griffin also served as President and Interim Director of the Cornell Women's Resource Center. "This is exactly where I feel I should be at this time in my life," said Griffin when asked about their new position. "Our cultural attitudes about gender identity and gender expression affect every aspect of our lives, and yet, we are clearly less than comfortable when it comes to discussing gender - particularly when it involves children." For information on STAR Training, interactive workshops, community advocacy or speakers for your event or conference, you can contact Griffin by phone or email at: 503-252-3000 griffin@transactiveonline.org You can also visit TransActive's website at: www.TransActiveOnline.org End
