Follow on Google News | Miinch to make Lucas Oil Modified Series debut18-year old Taylor Miinch will make his debut in the Lucas Oil Modified Series this weekend at Madera (CA) Speedway.
By: Derrick Shannon Miinch will close out the season in the Modified as well as challenge for the ASA Truck Series title where he has scored three consecutive victories and sits third in the point standings just 46-points out of the top spot. He is hoping for the same kind of success as he makes the transition to the popular open-wheel stock cars. "I am really looking forward to driving a Modified and to compete in the Lucas Oil Modified Series for Dean Kuhn (car owner) is a real blessing," Miinch said. "I have watched these cars race for years and always wanted to get behind the wheel and to finally have the opportunity I could not be more excited." The Lucas Oil Modified Series competes at tracks throughout the Southwest region in a 10-race series in events ranging from 75-100 laps. The event at Madera will be televised on MAVTV and will feature a $10,000 purse. More than 25 of the regions best drivers are expected so qualifying for the 75-lap contest will be critical. Madera Speedway is a tight but racey one-third mile banked oval that has been recently repaved lending to great side-by-side racing action. "It is my first trip to Madera," Miinch offered. "I am looking forward to the race and feel we have a great car for the weekend. It is going to be a thrill." Miinch works as a steel fabricator/welder at Clark Steel Fabricators and plans to compete in the remainder of the ASA Truck Series schedule and the Lucas Oil Modified Series as well as make select starts in SRL Southwest Tour and NASCAR K&N Pro Series.
