By: The Bluestone Both of Powell’s parents were very musically inclined so it wasn’t a surprise Powell began his love for music at a young age. In his hometown of Clanton, Alabama, Powell began singing gospel in his Baptist Church and learning the country twang at night with his father’s collection of Allman Brothers, Lyndyrd Skynyrd and Willie Nelson. After a move to Georgia while in high school, Powell found the perfect opportunity to share his love for music and his passion for his faith; Third Day. Third Day became a very popular gospel rock band, earning 4 Grammy awards and selling millions of albums. Mac Powell, for many years, dreamed of completing a country album and saw the perfect opportunity to complete this career dream while his original band, Third Day, was taking a break from touring. Mac Powell & the Backsliders released the country legend inspired album in August 2012 and are currently on tour performing their hit songs, “June Bug” and “Sweet Georgia Girl”. The Bluestone, constructed initially in 1898 as a Baptist church, now serves as a unique private event, wedding and concert venue. With its original soaring stained glass windows, The Bluestone offers an unparalleled and unique experience that cannot be surpassed. The Bluestone caters to events ranging from concerts to corporate clients, business meetings, weddings and private parties. The Bluestone is Columbus’ new home for live music, providing concert goers with a one of a kind, up close and personal entertainment experience. End
