Kingwood Fallen Heroes Golf Tournament Presents Generous Donation to Hope For The Warriors®

Kingwood Golf Tournament presents $30,000 donation to nonprofit to benefit wounded service members, their families, and families of the fallen.

Aug. 24, 2012 - PRLog -- KINGWOOD, TX, August 24, 2012—On April 28, 2012, local members of the community came together to honor three of Kingwood’s fallen heroes.  The Kingwood Fallen Heroes Memorial Golf Tournament did just that and more.  The event raised funds for two nonprofit organizations:  Blue Star Mothers and Hope For The Warriors®.

The three fallen heroes honored were:  Sgt. Brandon Bury, USMC; Sgt. William Meeuwsen, USA; and Lance Cpl. Luke Yepsen, USMC.  All three graduated from Kingwood High School before entering military service.

Last week, Hope For The Warriors® was proud to accept a donation of $30,000 from funds raised during the golf tournament.  The funds will be used for to support ten distinct programs, including both immediate and future needs of military families.

A number of local businesses stepped forward to make the tournament a success.  Top sponsors included:  Patent Capital Group, Wong Cabello, LLP, the Michael McShane Family, and Merrill Lynch Wealth Management.  Mexican Restaurants, Inc. provided dinner for more than 200 attendees.  In addition to corporate sponsors, many members of the community attended to honor the three young heroes and their families.

”We will forever miss Bill, Luke and Brandon, who gave their lives so we may continue to enjoy the many freedoms that come with being an American citizen,” Scott Mitchell, Tournament Director said.  “We knew the Humble and Kingwood areas were special where we could make this a success.  We are thankful for all the local support.”

“The Kingwood community put on an event that first and foremost honored three local heroes,” Amber Johnson, Hope For The Warriors® Immediate Needs Coordinator said.  “I was honored to be even a small part of this tournament.”

Planning has already begun for next year’s event.  Details, sponsorship opportunities and volunteer signups will soon be available on www.kingwoodfallenheroes.com.
