Oct. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- PRIDE Learning Center specializes in Special Education Tutoring for school-age children who are struggling with reading, writing and comprehension.  Students with learning differences attend PRIDE anywhere from one to four days a week and some up to three hours daily for a more intensive approach.  The PRIDE Learning Center program is based on Orton-Gillingham research which uses the multisensory elements of listening, seeing, touching, and moving.

“We are receiving more and more public school funding from local school districts due to budget cuts within the Special Education programs,” states Karina Richland, Founder of PRIDE Learning Center.  “It is a huge challenge for the districts to meet the ever-growing demands of special education.  The continual increase throughout the nation in students with individualized education programs (IEPs), mostly because of the rise in autism, is put aside with increasing costs and often insufficient funding from the districts,” says Ms. Richland.

On average, students jump an entire grade level in reading skills after attending an intensive 6- week program at PRIDE Learning Center.  When students come to PRIDE Learning Center, they receive individualized reading instruction by a credentialed and certified reading specialist.  Students progress in this very structured, sequential, cumulative and step-by-step program.

“The public schools are currently trying to accommodate students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) but parents are not happy with the results there,” states Ms. Richland.  “Special education teachers that work in the districts are having to carry the maximum caseload and are not being able to provide the best services so students can continue in the least restrictive environment.”

PRIDE Learning Center has locations in West Los Angeles, Redondo Beach, Newport Beach and Mission Viejo.  Tutors are also available to use Skype online tutoring services.
