Oberon, Inc. Announces New Models 1075 and 1077 Multimedia Gateway Enclosures

Nov. 28, 2012 - PRLog -- Classrooms and conference rooms everywhere are being equipped with high definition multimedia projectors and multi-media gateways (such as the Apple TV®, Roku®, and the Google TV(TM) platform). This technology enables students and participants to wirelessly share content with everyone in the room through the multimedia gateway. The old-fashioned podium with a VGA plug for the instructor is quickly going away. Protecting the investment in new interactive, multimedia education and training is mission-critical.

Based on Oberon’s industry-leading wireless access point enclosures, the new multimedia gateway ceiling mounts are secure, convenient, aesthetic, and UL-listed for use in the plenum space. The Apple TV® or other multimedia gateway is inserted into the clear plastic dome in the enclosure door. The Apple TV® is powered, network-connected, and plugged into the nearby ceiling mounted projector with a short HDMI cable. The door is closed and locked, securing the equipment in the ceiling and providing ideal communication between the multi-media gateway and those devices connecting to it.

Oberon's four new ceiling mounts for ceiling mounting most manufacturer’s multimedia gateways and wireless access points in settings where a projector attachment is not required.  While all four enclosures are similar in style and function, the 1075 models are ceiling tile inserts at 12 ¾” x 12 ¾” x 3” while the 1077 models are 2'x2' ceiling tile replacements.  Users have a choice of clear polycarbonate cover (Models 1075-CP, 1077-CP) for multimedia gateways or textured white ABS plastic cover (Models 1075-WA, 1077-WA) for wireless access points.  All four models include an integral T-Bar, which permits fast attachment of any vendor’s access point with a T-Bar clip.

The Models 1075 and 1077 are part of a new line of Oberon enclosures for securing multimedia gateways in educational or conference environments.  Oberon, known best for its wireless access point enclosures, has recently diversified its offerings for education in several ways.  The Multimedia Gateway Enclosure line follows on the company's mid-2012 announcement of a line of NEMA-rated Stadium Enclosures for protecting wireless access points outdoors.  In late-2010, the company introduced a series of wall and ceiling Telecommunication Enclosures designed to bring network equipment into classroom or small office environments.
