The panels, which are the visible surface of the system, zip into the rails (and unzip for access and cleaning). An average size basement can easily be completed in one day and the installation is much easier than conventional drop ceilings. The ceiling drops down only two inches, saving headroom.   Zip-Up Ceiling comes in two finishes and colors. These are smooth and serrated, and white and beige. The panels are paintable with latex paint. The main rails and panels come in 8', 12' and 16' lengths, the wall trim in 8' and 12' lengths, and seam trim in 12' lengths. The panels are one-foot wide.
