Ford Projects 2,200 Salaried Positions for 2013

Jan. 21, 2013 - PRLog -- As Ford’s largest job announcement in the last ten years, the Ford Motor Company is planning on adding roughly 2,2000 new employees to its payroll. This is in addition to the 8,100 part-time and salaried positions that were created in 2012.  

The increase in 2012 was thanks to an expansion in areas such as engineering and manufacturing, among others. Around 1,000 of those jobs were positions that had previously been outsourced to other countries. Ford estimates that three-quarters of the 2,200 salaried positions to be created in 2013 will be in the areas of product development, manufacturing, and IT.  

Joe Hinrichs, president of the American division of the Ford Motor Company spoke directly why adding more positions is necessary. “Our One Ford plan is designed to create profitable growth, and our new hiring is a direct result of our plan working. As we expand our product lineup of fuel-efficient vehicles, we need more people in critical areas – such as in a range of engineering activities, vehicle production, computer software and other IT functions – to ensure we deliver the vehicles people want and value.”

The 2013 growth plan is only a part of Ford's overall growth plan. Titled “One Ford,” the plan lays out the path to creating 12,000 new jobs by 2015, per an agreement with the United Auto Workers.
