Bowers & Wilkins Wireless A5 Speaker Awarded 5 Stars in What Hi-Fi? Review

The news comes just weeks after the Bowers & Wilkins A7 speaker received 5 stars in the December 2012 issue of the same magazine. The A5 speaker is smaller, and more affordable, but offers the same superior sound quality and simple fluid design for which the entire Bowers & Wilkins range is famous.

What Hi-Fi? lauded the Bowers & Wilkins A5 wireless speaker system for its superior design, and simplistic Apple AirPlay set-up, which allows the user to control their music from their iPhone, iPod or iPad. Choosing music from their own library, or their favourite music app, they can enjoy crystal clear audio and dictate their playlist from anywhere. Setting up AirPlay couldn’t be simpler thanks to the free Bowers & Wilkins AirPlay Setup App, available for all new Apple products. The app takes the user through the steps required to stream music to the speaker and the process takes just minutes.

Whilst the review comments that the A5 does not stray far from the A7 design formula, it simply being a smaller version of the same design, it comments that this isn’t necessarily a bad thing and adds that "the sleek, unassuming design will complement most rooms, and blend in rather than stand out".

Of course, visual aesthetic comes a close second to sound quality with any new speaker here, What Hi-Fi? claims, the A5 speaker excels.  According to What Hi-Fi? "the A5 is an impressively powerful dock for its size, capable of kicking out rich, detailed audio".

In conclusion, the reviewer wrote that "there are few AirPlay docks at this price that can challenge it in design and performance" adding "B&W has another superstar on its hands."
