Four Local Bands aim to be the "Last Band Standing" on March 2nd

Feb. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- Raleigh, N.C. (Jan. 31, 2013) — Four of the best NC-based bands are slated to go head-to-head in the Triangle’s most energetic and philanthropic music battle.. Band Together NC (http://www.bandtogethernc.org/), a Triangle-based organization that uses live music as a platform for social change, will present its third annual Last Band Standing event on Saturday, March 2, at Lincoln Theatre (http://www.lincolntheatre.com/) in downtown Raleigh. All proceeds from the event will go to support Band Together’s 2013 nonprofit partner, Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities (https://www.facebook.com/TLCDD?group_id=0)

Four local bands with diverse backgrounds and musical stylings – Big Fat Gap (http://www.bigfatgap.com/), Mac and Juice Quartet (http://macandjuice.net/fr_welcome.cfm), The Beast (http://www.thebeastmusic.com/) and The Deluge  – will compete for cash prizes and an opening spot at Band Together’s spring concert event. Each band will receive $500 plus an additional $1,000 for the winning band.

“From roots and soul, to hip-hop and jazz, to everything in between, this year’s Last Band Standing has everything a local music lover could want,” said Matt Strickland, executive director for Band Together NC. “We will continue to support the amazing talent of local musicians through annual events like Last Band Standing and the main event, and we are thrilled to be able to raise the profile of deserving local nonprofits in the process.”

Each band will perform a 30-to-40-minute set with a panel of four judges choosing the winner. Audience voting along with a new online voting contest will help decide the winner in the event of a tie among the judges. This year’s judges include Chris Malarkey, of Lincoln Theatre; Taylor Travesari, Manager for Red Hat Amphitheater; Sara Waters, Coordinator for Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival; and Evan Frazer, Senior Director of Premium Seat Sales for Live Nation.

Tickets for the third annual “Last Band Standing” are just $10 in advance for general admission or $65 in advance for the VIP experience. VIP tickets include dinner, beer and wine and a private viewing experience. Only 100 VIP tickets are available. Band Together’s 2012 concert event, headlined by iconic cosmic rockers The-B-52s (http://www.theb52s.com/), attracted nearly 4,000 attendees and raised more than $566,000 for Band Together’s 2012 nonprofit partner, Urban Ministries of Wake County (http://www.urbanmin.org/). To date, Band Together has donated more than $2.1 million to local nonprofits since its inception in 2001. In 2013, Band Together hopes to raise more than $850,000 for the Band Together partnership with Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities (http://www.tammylynncenter.org/).
