James Dicks, Director of Information and Technology for Department of Defense Florida ESGR presented Orlando Mayor John Hugh "Buddy" Dyer with Patriot Award. City employees that are currently attached to the U S Naval & Marine Corps Reserve Center located at Orlando, FL nominated the Mayor for the award. The award recognizes supervisors and bosses nominated by a Guardsman or Reservist employee for support provided directly to the nominator. The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support Citizen Warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families and granting leaves of absence if needed. James Dicks, a former U.S. Marine, completely supports the USERRA that protects employees currently assigned to the National Guard or Reserves.
