Follow on Google News | Celebrating a Milestone - 60 Years of Providing Quality Care to SeniorsThe Legacy Senior Communities, parent company of The Legacy Preston Hollow, The Legacy Willow Bend and The Legacy at Home is celebrating its 60th year of providing care to Jewish seniors in North Texas.
By: Forte PR “Since 1953, our organization has touched the lives of so many seniors, as well as their family members,” said Michael Ellentuck, president of The Legacy Senior Communities. “We have been at the forefront of senior care since we began our history at the Dallas Home for the Jewish Aged. We have always been dedicated to providing the very best senior living options with excellent care and services. As we look to the future, we are committed to making sure that we continue that rich history and respond to the needs of our seniors.” The Dallas Home for the Jewish Aged was located on the Golden Acres Campus and transitioned to its new location in August of 2007 when The Legacy Senior Communities, Inc., purchased Veranda at Preston Hollow as a replacement location for The Dallas Home for Jewish Aged. After an extensive renovation to most of the community, the name was changed to The Legacy Preston Hollow to reflect its corporate ownership and standard of service, amenities and the quality of care. “My involvement with The Legacy began years ago when my grandmother was a resident at Golden Acres, which inspired me to become a volunteer for Friends of Golden Acres,” said Cary Rossel, executive committee board member and past chair of The Legacy Senior Communities. “I have had the privilege of seeing this wonderful organization grow to meet the needs of the seniors in our community. I am proud to be a part of that growth, and I look to our future as we continue to explore ways to offer our seniors the very best of services and amenities.” The Legacy Senior Communities opened its second community, The Legacy Willow Bend, in November 2008 in Plano. The community offers independent living, assisted living, memory care, short-term rehabilitation and skilled nursing with resort-style services and amenities for active, independent seniors, as well as all levels of health care services on-site. The most recent addition to the continuum of care is The Legacy at Home – a home health care agency for seniors in the Greater Dallas area. The Medicare certified and Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP) accredited home health agency, which began serving families in July of 2011, is also accredited by the National Institute for Jewish Hospice (NIJH) as the only Jewish-sponsored home health care agency in the United States. “Fortunately, my family is one of those recipients whose loved ones were given nursing and loving care over these past 60 years,” said Carol Aaron, chairman of the board of trustees of The Legacy Senior Communities. “Therefore, I have always felt a special bond with our senior community. As the needs of seniors changed over the years, our organization adapted and transitioned from our original campus, Golden Acres, to serve our seniors through The Legacy Preston Hollow, The Legacy Willow Bend, and most recently, The Legacy at Home. The organization now provides a comprehensive healthcare model that allows seniors and their families to experience every level of care depending upon their individual needs.” The Legacy Senior Communities is celebrating this milestone with several events throughout the year. On April 7, The Legacy Preston Hollow is hosting an Open House event from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., giving people the opportunity to look back at the history of the organization. A community supper will be held on September 22 in The Legacy Willow Bend Sukkah from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, November 9, The Legacy Senior Communities will commemorate the 60th anniversary at the Dallas Omni Hotel. The Gala will include cocktails, dinner and dancing. “We are excited to celebrate our 60th anniversary throughout the year with several important community events,” said Andrea Statman, director of development of The Legacy Senior Communities. “The Gala this fall is a way for us to celebrate our rich history and to recognize the people who have made The Legacy Senior Communities the success that it is today.” The Legacy Preston Hollow, is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit, faith-based senior living residence that offers a continuum of care allowing residents to stay in place with assisted living, short-term rehabilitation, skilled nursing, and long term care.
