Follow on Google News | First Guests of Rockwall's Newest Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Community Share ExperiencesBy: Forte PR “We have tried multiple places trying to get the best care for Frances,” said Bill. “We decided to move to Broadmoor, and we have been very impressed with the amenities, the food, the care and the excellent staff. I want Frances to have the best care possible. All I can do is to continue to keep her company.” The next two people to move in were Georgia Wright and Maurine Cain; both women are living in the long-term care wing at the community. “We were at the end of the road as far as our health care options, and we learned that Broadmoor had opened,” Glenna Cogburn, Georgia’s daughter. “It has truly been an answer to our prayers. My mother is flourishing. She is interacting with people, eating again, and she’s seeing life again. It is obviously an impressive building aesthetically, but what we have been most impressed by is the level of care and the expertise of the nursing staff.” Maurine Cain, former school teacher of 36 years and who Cain Middle School is named after, was not keen at first on leaving her home. However, Broadmoor has allowed Maurine, as well as Georgia, to bring their caregivers from home allowing their guests to feel as at-home as possible. “This is the first time I have left my home. You never think you will have to, but then you realize you need better care,” said Maurine. “My son found Broadmoor for me, and it has been a great place to be. The pretty outdoor living area, the food, the building, and the people are all great, and they have been so sweet to me here. I have many of visitors, and it is nice to have family close by.” The rehabilitation wing at Broadmoor focuses on physical, occupational and speech therapy. The 2,455 square foot rehabilitation gym allows for a lot of specialty equipment and room to accommodate more guests. “Our team is very functionality- One man benefiting from Broadmoor’s rehabilitation services is James Hazelip, who recently came to Broadmoor after a stint in the hospital from complications from pneumonia. “Last week he couldn’t make a fist,” said James’ wife Helen. “Today his hands are great. The therapists here are working on his strength and balance. They have been very helpful so far, and it is nice to be so close to home.” ABOUT BROADMOOR MEDICAL LODGE Broadmoor Medical Lodge is locally owned and operated by SCC Healthcare Group, headquartered near Rockwall County.
