DALLAS - May 1, 2013 - PRLog -- The Legacy Preston Hollow invited the Jewish community, as well as board members, staff, residents, guests and family to an Open House event honoring The Dallas Home for Jewish Aged for its 60-year history of serving seniors and their families. Tours of the community were given as guests were invited to enjoy refreshments and food and to see photos of past presidents in the boardroom, a Dr. Herb Shore (founding executive director of the original Dallas Home for Jewish Aged, Golden Acres) collection in the library, and an archive exhibit in the assisted living corridor. Michael Ellentuck, president of The Legacy Senior Communities, parent company of Dallas Home for Jewish Aged, introduced and welcomed the influential people that have helped shaped the organization from its start at Golden Acres.

“It is important to recognize the milestone of the 60th anniversary of Dallas Home for Jewish Aged this year, and I am grateful to all who came out today to take a look back at our history and to hear about our plans for the future,” said Ellentuck. “I want to especially thank our honorary chairs Regine Ginsberg and Ethel Zale, who were the heart and soul of our original home, Golden Acres.

“Their dedication and compassion to the residents was evident in everything they did. So many lives were touched by their hard work and expertise. With the support of Friends of Golden Acres, they spearheaded the fundraising that allowed many areas of the home to be refurbished and improved. We are honored to recognize them for their extraordinary role they played in our history and thank them for the love and support they poured into making sure our residents had the very best care.”

Ellentuck also introduced and honored The Legacy Senior Communities Chair Carol Aaron, Past Chair Cary Rossel, The Legacy Preston Hollow Chair Jerry Rasansky, and Past Chairs of Golden Acres Irwin Grossman, Buddy Rosenthal, Andrea Statman, and Stuart Morse.

Musicians Andre Gustus and Nazia Ahmed entertained the crowd, guests were invited to play Bingo with residents, and the event concluded with a musical program with the residents.

“Our 60 year history would not be possible without the support of the Jewish community and their long standing connection and commitment to the Dallas Home for Jewish Aged and its growth,” said Andrea Statman, director of development for The Legacy Senior Communities. “I am very proud to be a part of this milestone celebration.”
