By: Forte PR “Re-Ward Third Ward will set a standard of affordable multi-family housing excellence that will positively impact families within the City of Houston and the Third Ward,” said Pastor David L. Punch, president and CEO of Re-Ward Third Ward. “HomeWood at Zion allows families with a low to moderate income to live in a safe, quality apartment offering an active family lifestyle and a variety of services and amenities. We are honored to be celebrating this opening and success of this community.” The proclamation bestowed by the City of Houston was presented by Reisha Beaty, director of communications and constituent liaison, on behalf of City Council Member Wanda Adams. Councilwoman Adams has spent the last four years securing nearly $500 million in funds to improve the quality of life for residents in Third Ward. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee applauded those that helped make HomeWood at Zion a reality, and also provided a special proclamation in honor of the occasion. Councilman Andrew C. Burks was present to show his support along with many other representatives from city council offices. HomeWood at Zion, a $12 million multi-family community, adds nearly 80,000 square-feet to the local property tax base and employment opportunities for on-site staff, local vendors, sub-contractors and suppliers. “I am honored to be a part of the official grand opening and ribbon cutting of HomeWood at Zion,” said Kenneth Fambro, vice president of development, Integrated Real Estate Group. “The building and its amenities are truly impressive, catering to the needs of the active family who needs quality, affordable housing. I believe this community will make a great impact on the Third Ward neighborhood of Houston and allow the area to continue to grow.” The City of Houston’s Housing and Community Development Department provided $1.3 million in HOME funds, and the National Equity Fund provided $8 million for the $12 million project. Some of the units will be restricted to households earning less than 60 percent and less than 50 percent of the area median income. Other key partners involved in the success of HomeWood at Zion are JPMorgan Chase, National Equity Fund, Midtown, and Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church. HomeWood at Zion combines the peace of mind of a gated community with an active family lifestyle at an affordable value. HomeWood at Zion features 70 residential units with two-, three- and four-bedroom floor plans offering a stunning view of the Houston skyline. The community provides a variety of services and amenities, including a clubhouse containing a business center, fitness center and a furnished children’s activity center, as well as credit counseling, financial planning assistance and health and nutritional courses.
