![]() Filmmaker Erden Kıral receives 2013 Boston Turkish Film Festival Excellence in Turkish Cinema AwardVeteran director of the Turkish cinema Erden Kıral was presented the Boston Turkish Film Festival Award for Excellence in Turkish Cinema in a ceremony at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Preceding the ceremony, Kıral’s acclaimed new movie “Load/Yük” had its international premiere.
By: Boston Turkish Film Festival Presenting the award to Kıral, Festival Director Erkut Gömülü pointed out that the worldwide perception of Turkish cinema has been brought to a new level by the international accomplishments of Turkish filmmakers and Turkish cinema has gained higher visibility and recognition. Gömülü Recipients of this award in previous years were directors Zeki Demirkubuz, Reha Erdem, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Yeşim Ustaoğlu, Derviş Zaim and Tayfun Pirselimoğlu. Boston Turkish Film Festival, organized since 2001, promotes contemporary Turkish films and directors to American audiences. The main sponsors of this year’s festival, which ends on April 27th, are the Turkish Cultural Foundation, The Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Turkish Airlines.
