SLOUGH, U.K. - March 27, 2013 - PRLog -- UK private ambulance service company, Heathrow Air Ambulance (HAA), is announcing the sale of some of its medical emergency equipment in order to upgrade to newer updated versions and to maintain a high standard of quality of offering private ambulance services to the public.

The medical equipment that were still in excellent working condition and put up for sale were the following:

1) LIFEPAK 500 and LIFEPAK 1000 Automated External Defibrillators – these are portable electronic devices that automatically diagnoses the potentially life threatening cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia in a patient, and is able to treat them through defibrillation, the application of electrical therapy which stops the arrhythmia, allowing the heart to re-establish an effective rhythm.

With simple audio and visual commands, AEDs are designed to be simple to use for the layman, and the use of AEDs is taught in many first aid, first responder, and basic life support (BLS) level cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) classes.

2) Aluminium  Scoop Stretchers - devices used specifically for casualty lifting. It is most frequently used to lift supine patients from the ground, either due to unconsciousness or in order to maintain stability in the case of trauma, especially spinal injury, where it is used as an intermediate step between the ground and a restraining device such as a long spine board or vacuum mattress.

A scoop stretcher has a structure that can be split vertically into two parts, with shaped 'blades' towards the centre which can be brought together underneath a patient. The two halves are placed separately either side of the patient, and then brought together until securing clips at the top and bottom both engage.
