Park & Sun Volleyball Open Comes to ST. Pete Beach, Fl

April 9, 2013 - PRLog -- The Park & Sun Open, part of the Reflekt Polarized Big Shot Volleyball Series, will be making a first time stop at St. Petersburg Beach on April 13-14, 2013. Teams from throughout the East Coast will compete as they warm up for the 2013 Pro Beach Volleyball Tour. All events are sanctioned by Volley America.

Top male and female doubles teams will compete for over $75,000 cash prizes during the 2013 season including $12,000 at the Spring Florida events. Tournament play will start at 9 am with finals scheduled for 12 noon Sunday. Admission is free for all spectators.

The Big Shot Volleyball Series holds 35 events leading to the September 7-8 $8,000 Big Shot Championships at Bally’s Casino in Atlantic City, NJ and the $5,000 Volley America National Championships October in Clearwater Beach.

Top players in the Reflekt Polarized Big Shot Series include Miami Beach star Adrian Carambula, who is the top player on the East Coast and Steve Grotowski (who represented Great Britain in the 2012 Olympics in London). Other top players include Tampa’s top player Matt Henderson and Charleston, SC’s Jake Elliott. Many of the tour players have Pro Beach Volleyball Tour experience with Adrian Carambula/Steve Grotowski posting the highest result in 2012 by making it to the finals of the Belmar, NJ Jose Cuervo Pro Beach Volleyball Tour... The defending Olympic Gold Medalist Phil Dalhausser played on the Big Shot Tour before advancing to the Pro Tour and the Olympics.

Top women’s players include Clearwater Pro Player Tara Kuk, and Venice star Kristen Batt. There is even a new team playing that came to Florida from Germany to warm up for their European season.

Separate divisions will be held for players of intermediate and novice levels on Saturday and Sunday. The $60 entry fee entitles players to a full day of tournament play, an official Reflekt Polarized Big Shot Volleyball t-shirt, and a chance to win merchandise prizes from tournament sponsors Spalding, Rider Sandals, 4C Totally Light 2Go Energy Drinks, Rox Volleyball, 1st Place Volleyball, SOB Volleyball Vacations, Sixpak Volleygear, Zem Booties, Dig Magazine, Bally’s Casino and Park and Sun Sports.
