UNITED STATES, N.Y. - May 13, 2013 - PRLog -- Hudson Furniture Gallery, a conceptual design showroom with global locations that specializes in hand-made, large-form sculptural furnishings and lighting, is pleased to announce a new collection conceived and cast in bronze and lacquer, Age of Man. The new collection will be on view in the gallery beginning May 18, 2013, at a special by-invitation art, design and architecture exhibit corresponding to ICFF, jointly hosted by The World of Interiors.

In a dynamic departure from his well-received organic wood tables and seating, creative director and founder at Hudson, Barlas Baylar, has pursued an exploration of form, function and materials to design a new body of sculptures that pay homage to iconic works from the Bronze Age, also known within the art history canon as the Age of Man.

Always inspired by the art, design and architecture of the art deco era, Baylar has delved into studies of modern classics to inform his unique design sensibilities. As homage to the great works of iconic sculptors Brancusi, Noguchi, Jean Michel Frank and Ruhlman, the designer as artist continues to evolve each collection into complex new forms through use of inventive architectural materials, with a focus on lacquer and bronze.

Through close study of forms found in nature along his ongoing travels around the world, Baylar takes natural field stones and translates this form into cast bronze to create sculptures that are both free-standing and wall-mounted in the form of mirrors, consoles, seating and tables. The result is one of a kind, collectible yet functional, art.

A focus upon optics and shape take form in both convex and concave wall and console pieces designed in lacquer and wood limited-editions, including ‘The Eye,’ ‘Meteor’ and “The Stones’ where the viewer is seen in a unique manner, as the centerpiece, or literal center of conversation.
