“Swing Bridge” is a 10-color hand-pulled silkscreen print, and is part of Erick Sahler Serigraph’s “My Hometown” series saluting the icons and institutions of the Eastern Shore. Other prints in the series include “Discover Assateague,” “The old swing bridge was the gateway to Chincoteague Island for more than 50 years. Crossing its short rise led to a land of salty breezes, fresh seafood, artful decoys and wild ponies,” Sahler said. “The old swing bridge set Chincoteague apart from the rest of the world, and it still holds a place in the hearts of residents and visitors alike.” The swing bridge was removed after the opening of the new Chincoteague bridge in 2010. The image, which features a view across Chincoteague Channel from Marsh Island, was designed and printed by Sahler. It measures 16 x 20 inches and sells for $75 unframed and $115 framed. All serigraphs by Sahler are printed by hand in his Salisbury, Md., studio using Earth-friendly archival inks on acid-free paper. Sahler, 46, is an Eastern Shore native who graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore County with a bachelor’s degree in visual and performing arts. He has created commercial artwork for clients across the Eastern Shore since 1983, and his illustrations and cartoons appeared for more than 20 years in The (Salisbury, Md.) Daily Times.
