Follow on Google News | Cambridge harbor featured in new limited-edition silkscreen printsNew Erick Sahler Serigraphs release to debut April 12 at Sunnyside Shop in Cambridge, Md.
“Cambridge Creek,” a 12-color screen-printed image, shows Eastern Shore deadrise workboats docked in the harbor with the historic J.M. Clayton Seafood — the world’s oldest crab company — in the distance. The print is the 14th in Sahler’s “My Hometown” series celebrating the places that are special to Delmarva residents and visitors. In 2012, Sahler’s first Cambridge print featured the just-opened Choptank River Lighthouse. “Cambridge Creek is the heart of one of the busiest — and most picturesque — ports in Chesapeake Country. Every day, dozens of workboats sail into the creek, topped with fresh catches of blue crabs and oysters. This view from Maryland Avenue, featuring the workboat fleet and the legendary J.M. Clayton Co., is one of my favorites Eastern Shore scenes,” Sahler said. The image, which was designed and hand-printed by Sahler, is 16 x 20 inches. There are 120 prints in the edition and it sells for $85 unframed and $135 framed. Sunnyside Shop, at 500 Poplar St. in Cambridge, is the exclusive dealer of Erick Sahler Serigraphs in Dorchester County. Pre-orders for “Cambridge Creek” prints are now being accepted and the shop will be open until 8 p.m. during the Second Saturday celebration on April 12. Call 410-901-9009. All serigraphs by Sahler are printed by hand in his Salisbury studio using Earth-friendly archival inks on acid-free paper. Sahler, 47, is a Salisbury native who graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore County with a bachelor’s degree in visual and performing arts. He has created commercial artwork for clients across the Eastern Shore since 1983. For more information, go to ErickSahler.com. End
