The Institute for Supply Management – New Jersey (ISM - NJ) announces Ms. Farryn Melton as the recipient of its 2013 Supply Management Executive of the Year Crystal Award. Dr. Kevin Lyons is the Dinner Chairperson Award recipient for this event.

Hillsborough, New Jersey, May 11, 2013 – The Institute for Supply Management – New Jersey  (ISM - NJ) announces that  Ms. Farryn Melton, Chief Procurement Officer & Senior Vice President, Bristol-Myers Squibb,  is the recipient of its 2013 Supply Management Executive of the Year Crystal Award. The Crystal Award is presented annually to an outstanding purchasing executive. The recipient is selected from ISM-NJ member submitted nominations for regional based professionals who have exhibited strong leadership in promoting the purchasing profession, developed corporate relationships with diverse and minority suppliers and implemented innovative programs including environmental/green initiatives all while keeping an eye on the bottom line.

ISM - NJ also announces that Dr. Kevin Lyons, Assistant Professor for the Department of Supply Chain Management and Marketing Sciences Business School, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is the Dinner Chairperson Award recipient for this prestigious event. The dinner chairperson is the executive who received the next highest rating in the nomination selection process.

Farryn Melton
, is Senior Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer for Bristol-Myers Squibb . Ms. Melton is responsible for leading the organization in leveraging the company’s global external spend to improve productivity, optimize cost efficiency, and align with the overall business strategy to optimize value and transform the business.  She is also responsible for the outsourcing center of excellence organizations at Bristol-Myers Squibb. Ms. Melton career includes key leadership and management positions with Fortune 100 companies spanning multiple industries including:  Amgen, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, Pfizer, Warner-Lambert, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Boeing, and Rockwell International.  Through the years, she lead the transformation of several procurement organizations to “best in class.”

Dr. Lyons
is Assistant Professor in Supply Chain Management & Marketing Sciences for Rutgers Business School-Newark and New Brunswick.

Dr. Lyons conducts research on developing and integrating global environmental, social, economic, ethical criteria and data into supply chain/procurement systems and processes. His research work includes the environmental and economic impacts on raw material extraction, logistics, manufacturing, consumption, consumer of multiple products and services research, designing and implementing local, national and international environmental economic development systems, waste-to-energy systems and environmental and sustainable social policy and financial impact forecasting (e.g. Sarbanes Oxley Corporate Social and Environmental Impact Reporting). Dr. Lyons created the supply chain archeology and supply chain waste archeology research disciplines and has researched and written extensively on conducting environmental health-checks on global supply chains and the resulting benefits of reduced risk management impacts and costs.

Dr. Lyons received the Sierra Club Annual Professional of the Year Award and New Jersey State Governor's Award for Environmental Leadership and Excellence.
