Why: This educational event is geared toward local insurance agents and brokers who will be required to help their clients determine how best to proceed when health care reform takes effect fully on Jan. 1, 2014. Without adequate and accurate information on insurance options, including self-funded plans, the individuals and small businesses that rely on insurance agents and brokers will face possible fines and/or gaps in health coverage.

Rodger Bayne will explain options available to agents and their clients. He is a dynamic speaker who has spent the last few years developing his understanding of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. He doesn’t pull punches and he sees potential concerns for all involved coming January 1.

Tequila Terry, director of plan and partner management for the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange, the state agency implementing health reform initiatives, will speak in the afternoon, giving agents the latest news from the state and federal government.

Members of the media can attend any or all of the four sessions looking specific aspects of health reform or can schedule in advance interviews with Bayne and others participating in the event.
