chashama and World Lung Foundation is pleased to announce the premiere showing of The Dali Series of collages and other original works of art by Marius Sznajderman at the chashama Gallery in midtown Manhattan.  The show will also mark the launch of the book Dali, Dumas and Me - An Artist’s Tale of Friendship and Deception, which tells the story behind the creation of the Dali Series.

The show will continue for a limited run of two days on Friday, June 21 and Saturday, June 22, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Dali Series of collages and the accompanying book reveal the intriguing story of Sznajderman’s artistic odyssey into the surrealistic world of Dali through his relationship with one of the artist’s primary printmakers. In the process of trying to help a friend, Sznajderman was drawn into a dark side of the art world that he had never experienced in his long life as an artist, printmaker and teacher.

This exhibit features the resulting artwork Sznajderman created by combining elements from the illegitimate Dali prints he received in a deal gone bad and Japanese Masa paper painted with acrylics.  The collages are bright and bold, in Sznajderman’s characteristic style, with cuttings from the Dali prints virtually exploding across the paper as the artist channeled his frustrations into the work.

A portion of all art and book sales from the exhibit will benefit World Lung Foundation’s programs that address the causes of lung disease around the world. The exhibition is sponsored by RM Capital Management LLC, a private real estate investment banking and merchant banking firm in New York City.

Marius Sznajderman has presented his work in more than thirty solo exhibitions and numerous group shows in South America and in the U.S. His work is in major public collections, including the Smithsonian Institution, The Museum of Modern Art, The Fine Arts Museum and The Museum of Contemporary Arts (Caracas, Venezuela), the Cincinnati Museum of Art, the Library of Congress, the Museo del Barrio (New York City), and The New Jersey State Museum. He is listed in Who's Who in American Art and in Printworld International.
