The Puerto Rican Parade Committee and the Puerto Rican Cultural Center, who, in other years, both put on competing parades, are putting on the event as a joint venture. The two marches the organizations previously conducted are being combined this year in the hopes of strengthening the event as a whole and to celebrate the event’s theme, Promoviendo Nuestra Cultura y Comunidad (Promoting Our Culture And Community.) Floats, notable members of the Puerto Rican community, Puerto Rican musicians and performers, will all be part of the festivities. The march itself is actually just one aspect of the events going on this weekend in celebration of Puerto Rican culture. Most of the festivities will be held in Humboldt Park, (http://www.conciergepreferred.com/ The festivities will include plenty of vendors selling arts and crafts, hot and fresh food, and cold drinks.
